Paint a plate: paint on the first frame to erase, add or relight, and the edit carries through the whole shot in ComfyUI
Paint a plate is a free, open-source ComfyUI node pack from AInVFX: paint on the first frame of a shot to erase an object, add something or relight it, and the edit carries through every frame. It exports in the plate's own format, so an EXR comes back as an EXR with untouched pixels identical to the original.
What it does
Type a few words, pick Paint, Erase or Light and paint on the first frame. FLUX 3 Image Klein edits that frame (its own Qwen 3.5 prompt upsampler writes the caption), SAM 3.1 finds whole objects and follows the edit through the shot, and LTX 2.5 carries it through with Lightricks' in-outpainting IC-LoRA for erases and WepeNerd's Ripple IC-LoRA for paint and light. A fluid mode turns flat colour blobs painted on the first and last frames into smoke, steam, fire, dust or fog with AInVFX's own ainvfx-fluid IC-LoRA. You review at full quality through OpenColorIO, as in OpenRV, and Export keeps the plate's file type, bit depth, frame numbers, colour tags, timecode, audio and EXR layers.
Worth knowing
Recommended and tested with 32 GB of VRAM or more and about 60 GB of models; on a smaller card or a Mac the README gives a Runpod setup on an RTX PRO 6000. Needs ComfyUI v0.43.0 or newer and ComfyUI-LTXVideo, and you must accept the FLUX 3 Image Klein, LTX 2.5 and in-outpainting licences on Hugging Face. Shots go up to 121 frames and 1920 px on the long side; cast shadows outside an erased object stay until you erase them with a second stroke, and SDR-to-HDR is hidden for now because it flickers. The code is Apache 2.0; LTX 2.5 and its IC-LoRAs need a paid licence from US$10M annual revenue. An entry in Comfy's Open Source Higgsfield challenge.
