ComfyUI-Dials turns two prompts into a 14 KB motion or mood slider for MiniMax H3 and Pika H3 Flex

ComfyUI-DialsFree, open source (AGPL-3.0 code; dials under the MiniMax H3 licence)

ComfyUI-Dials is a free, open-source ComfyUI node pack that makes a strength slider for MiniMax H3 from pairs of prompts that differ in one quality, such as standing still versus running. Each dial is a file of about 14 KB, needs no training or reference images, and also works on Pika H3 Flex.

What it does

Write prompt pairs that are identical except for one quality, and Make Dial turns their average difference into a direction in about a minute (one text-encoder pass per prompt). Apply Dial then pushes every generation toward the first prompt at negative strength or toward the second at positive strength, and dials stack with LoRAs and with each other. The first released dial is Motion: Freeze to Zoomies, and there is a villainy pack of eight moods (sinister, creepy, cold, unhinged, seductive, corrupted, dread, impish). Because H3 has no CFG, negative prompts do nothing on it, and dials give back that kind of steering.

Results and limits

In the author's seed-matched tests on six motion prompts, the motion dial at +2 gave 2.7 times the base pixel motion and at −2 gave 0.05 times, close to a frozen cinemagraph. On Pika H3 Flex the useful range was +0.5 to +1.0; at +1.5 and above the scene restaged and characters morphed. The sinister dial crushed speech in a two-line dialogue test (Whisper word error 0.84 at +2, against 0.00 at base), while seductive kept it clean.

Worth knowing

Install by cloning it into ComfyUI/custom_nodes (no extra dependencies), copy the dial files into models/loras/dials/ and load one of the included workflows; it needs MiniMax H3 from the Comfy-Org repack. A dial can't teach the model something new such as a person or a style; the author's rule is a LoRA for what, dials for how. The node code is AGPL-3.0, but dial files are MiniMax H3 derivatives under its community licence, so its territory limits apply. The author has tested the dials on only a handful of scenes.
