H3 Motion: drag a subject out of a photo along a path, or mask part of a video and change what happens, with MiniMax H3

H3 MotionFree, open source (AGPL-3.0; runs locally)

H3 Motion is a free, open-source app that lets you lift a subject out of a photo and drag it along a path, then has MiniMax H3 animate the shot with sound. It can also regenerate a masked part of an existing video, and it runs on your own ComfyUI with open-weights models only.

What it does

For photos the steps are Select, Isolate, Move and Generate: SAM 3.1 finds the subject by name and you refine it with clicks, Qwen3-VL describes it and Qwen Image 2.1 removes it to leave a clean background, then you drag each subject along a keyframed path (resizing or flipping it on the way) and MiniMax H3 animates the shot with Time-to-Move, with sound. For videos you draw a rectangle or ellipse, animate it with the same path tools or have it follow an object, and describe what should appear; H3 regenerates the masked region and the app composites it back into the source, keeping, referencing or replacing the original sound. It is a React app that drives a self-hosted ComfyUI through the Comfy SDK, built for Comfy's Open Source Higgsfield challenge.

Worth knowing

You need an NVIDIA or AMD GPU, a recent ComfyUI (tested at a pinned commit of v0.41.0), the author's ComfyUI-vlo node pack 0.3.0 or later, Node.js 22.12+ and uv; the README lists the exact model downloads. WSL is tested, native Windows is not yet. The app is AGPL-3.0, but the MiniMax H3 Community License's grant excludes the European Union, the United Kingdom, South Korea and the United States, and Qwen Image 2.1 is under the Qwen Research license, so read each model card before use.
