Use case: a 22-second drone flight over Taiwan from a Blender blockout and MiniMax H3
A creator made a 22-second FPV-style flight past four Taiwanese landmarks without a drone, using a gray Blender blockout and MiniMax H3 running locally on one RTX 5090. The write-up shares every step, the render times and what still breaks.
What it does
The flight path and the shape of each landmark come from gray proxies and a camera rendered headless in Blender, split into three 7 to 8 second segments that each end inside a fog bank. Qwen-Image 2.1 made a panorama and one image per landmark as references. Each segment then ran through the MiniMaxH3ReferenceToVideo node in ComfyUI, with the blockout as the reference video and the previous segment's last frame as an extra reference image for continuity.
The segments were crossfaded inside the fog with ffmpeg, upscaled 2× with NVIDIA RTX Video Super Resolution, and taken from 24 to 48 fps with RTX Frame Generation.
Results and limits
Generation at 1344×768 and 14 steps took about 17 min 41 s for all three segments, with no out-of-memory errors and no hard cuts flagged by ffmpeg's scene detection. Upscaling to 2688×1536 took 43.5 s and frame generation 150 s; the author calls the upscaling gain real but small.
A single 15-second take through every landmark gave 2 to 3 hard cuts even with a single-shot prompt, which is why the shot was split. Still broken: Taipei 101's spiral doesn't complete a full turn, the fog seams read as soft dissolves, and the gorge walls and the tower warp in places.
Worth knowing
The prompt asks for one continuous shot with no cuts and no gray clay material; without that, the model copies the blockout's look. The author checks the blockout for sudden frame-to-frame jumps before generating, since big jumps tend to become hard cuts, and tests the route at 864×480 first. Users in the EU, UK, US and South Korea need to request a license from MiniMax via the H3 License Request Form (platform.minimax.io/h3-license) before use.
