NVIDIA VFX nodes bring local upscaling, frame generation and HDR to ComfyUI

NVIDIA VFX NodesFree nodes; needs an NVIDIA RTX GPU

NVIDIA's RTX video effects now run inside ComfyUI as custom nodes on your own RTX GPU. They cover video upscaling up to 4×, frame generation from 2× to 16×, and SDR-to-HDR conversion.

What it does

RTX Video Super Resolution upscales up to 4× (or to target sizes up to 8192 px), with 19 modes for compressed, clean and streaming sources, plus denoise and deblur modes. RTX Video Frame Generation makes in-between frames from 2× to 16× for frame-rate conversion or slow motion, with automatic shot-change detection.

RTX Video HDR converts SDR to BT.2020 HDR (HLG or PQ) with controls for contrast, saturation, middle gray and peak luminance from 400 to 2000 nits.

Results and limits

The source is Comfy's announcement and gives no measured speeds. It recommends running Super Resolution, then Frame Generation, then HDR. The HDR output has no color-space metadata, so you must tell the Create Video node whether it's HDR or HDR PQ.

Worth knowing

It requires an NVIDIA RTX GPU. Install it from the ComfyUI Manager; the models ship with the nodes, and example workflows are included, including one for long videos using loop nodes.

Try it yourself

Install NVIDIA VFX nodes from the Manager, load [your SDR clip], and chain RTX Video Super Resolution (2×, High-bitrate) > Frame Generation (2×) > Video HDR (peak [1000] nits). Encode at the source frame rate × 2 to keep the duration.
