mflux 0.23 runs FLUX 3 Image Klein locally on Apple Silicon
The open-source mflux tool now runs Black Forest Labs' FLUX 3 Image Klein natively on Macs with MLX. Version 0.23 covers text-to-image, editing with up to ten reference images, LoRAs and 4, 6 or 8-bit quantization.
What it does
mflux is a command-line tool and Python library that runs image models on Apple's MLX framework. Version 0.23 adds mflux-generate-flux3 and mflux-generate-flux3-edit for FLUX 3 Image Klein, covering both the distilled model (16 steps) and the Base model (50 steps with guidance), and loads Klein LoRAs in ComfyUI/ai-toolkit, diffusers/PEFT and kohya formats.
The same release adds Qwen-Image-2.1-Turbo in 8 steps and a Krea 2 Turbo depth ControlNet command.
Worth knowing
Install it with `uv tool install --upgrade mflux`. The Klein weights use the FLUX Kommunity License: accept it on the Hugging Face model page and log in with `hf auth login` before the first download. Commercial output generation is limited to users under US$5M annual revenue. The standard mflux options apply, including --low-ram and VAE tiling.
Try it yourself
mflux-generate-flux3-edit --image-paths [actor.png] [costume.png] --prompt "[The actor] wearing [the costume] on [set], [lighting], film still" -q 8 --seed 1
